If you are like most high school or college kids taking a test is typically not something you enjoy doing. But it is something that must be done of course. The key to taking and passing any test is preparation of course, but there are also test taking strategies that can be learned to help you do even better on a test.

Prior to you taking any test you may likely have some anxiety feelings creep up inside you and maybe you do not know what to do. Well guess what? One of the best ways to avoid these feelings is to do the work and put in time preparing for the test. Of course you may still get anxious feelings but it is amazing how much preparing can help calm the anxiety!

Some additional ideas to keep in mind include before a big test make sure you go to bed early the night before the test in order to get a great nights sleep. Being really tired when sitting for a test can make your brain feel all cluttered and you may not be able to focus. Another thing is too eat properly and get a healthy meal the morning of the test. Do not skip a meal and do not eat a heavy meal. Your body and mind need good food for energy and to process your thoughts and stay focused. So make sure to get a good meal.

When preparing it would be wise to also use some really relevant practice questions. If you can get your hands on some real world previous exam questions those may help. Some study guides come with practice questions from a previous exam.

One would think teachers know all about tests, but they need help too. That includes those planning on becoming a teacher. Many in the education field could use praxis study guides to help them prepare. Another common guide for educators is ABCTE Exam Preparation that may help.

In summary make sure to put in the needed amount of time and focus. Also use some really good test prep questions from previous exams if possible. To help in reducing test anxiety there are some good books with more detail information.
