• Cheap holidays to New York: the subway is safe sometimes

For cheap holidays to New York, most Americans would roll into town on the train. The cost is significantly less than flying in by plane. Best of all, you leave the car behind. In New York City, driving a car is a huge disadvantage. The traffic is a sold jam all day, every day and the cost of parking is $25 to $45 on top of what the room will run you.

Taxis are not a good choice either if you are on a tight budget with the meter running as you are sitting still. At a dollar a minute a 20 minute cab fare just 3 blocks will not only ruin your mood but your budget.

The public transportation is the best and cheapest way to get around the Big Apple. With an all day pass going for under $10 and a week’s pass for less than $30, this is the best way on a tight budget.

For those of you that are skeptical and believe the nightmares that Hollywood has portrayed the public transport system, just remember, Hollywood exaggerates everything and the NYC subway system is no exception. You should take the proper precaution like traveling during the most occupied hours. Midnight to 5 am is ok but without a crowd, the likelihood of being harassed does increase. Using common sense is your best weapon on staying safe from harm not only in New York City but anywhere and you would still be able to enjoy cheap holidays to New York City anytime of the year.
